A short vacation

Someone once asked me if I like travelling. To me, travelling generally means traversing or journeying, to get from one place to another. What is so interesting in getting from one point to the other? And of course I told her no. But if she were to have asked me differently, I would have given her a different answer altogether.
A few months back, I flew off to an unfamiliar destination for a short vacation. My first vacation ever. I've wanted to experience what it is like to go on a vacation, to know how I really feel about "travelling." The opportunity to "travel" never did avail itself till recently. While growing up, whenever my family goes on a holiday, I was always excluded, left out. Thats not really a bad thing though, with them away, I had the whole house to myself and that to me is utter bliss. Try staying in a two bedroom flat with eight other people, then you will have a better understanding and insight why I felt elated that I was left home alone.
Okay, back to present day, after a little deliberation I chose this destination for my very first vacation, and vacationing all by myself at that. Did some research and planning weeks before as this was something new to me. Bought my plane tickets as soon as my leave was approved. I was all set to go, Langkawi, here I come.
Just about a week ago, barely two months from my first vacation, I was in Langkawi again. And yes for another vacation, a church staff retreat.
Travelling, vacationing or whatever term you may use, for me, I have concluded that I do enjoy these times of being away from familiarity and monotonous routines. . Yes, it is indeed nice to explore new places and experiencing new things, and there are places I would like to visit (but with a future special someone). But at the end of the day, travelling is still a luxury I can do without and never was it a need so far. In the future, my opinion on this may change but for now, I would prefer to travel as little as I possibly can because of my health and financial constrains. What the future holds I know not, circumstances and situations may be very different and who knows, I may even be bitten by the travel bug. Whatever will be, will be.
